Gardens of Rice Creek Tour
#: 2005    ID:    Section:
Description:

Join us for a tour of “Gardens of Rice Creek” a private home garden at 1315 66th Ave. NE Fridley, MN 55432. We’ll drive separately to the home of Betty Ann, who is an internationally known lecturer and garden designer.

She’ll take us on a tour of her own incredible backyard garden along Rice Creek. The tour of the display gardens will focus on identifying and using many of these uncommon plant materials to demonstrate landscaping principles.  The second part of the tour gives a behind-the-scenes look at hybridizing Minnesota-hardy rhododendrons. Potted nursery plants are available for purchase after the tour.

For over 40 years, Betty Ann has passionately pursued growing, propagating and photographing rock garden plants.  Internationally known, she has lectured widely and designed and built innumerable nature-inspired private and public rock gardens, including the Peace Garden at Lake Harriet in Minneapolis. Her Gardens of Rice Creek nursery in Fridley, supplies rock garden, conifer and rhododendron enthusiasts with rare plants, many found nowhere else.  Landscaped gardens associated with the nursery demonstrate microclimates suited for everything from cactus and alpines to ladyslippers.
